Neural Network applications in CFD

Hi everybody,

Are there some practical application in CFD where neural networks are successfully employeed?

You see it in turbulence. I see alot with regards to turbulence control...

Here is one example.

(1). I have seen a couple of papers with AI application in turbine blade design and analysis, in ASME/Journal of Turbomachinery.

As John pointed Neural networks have been used as optimization/design tools. The neural network is "trained" to design airfoils, wings etc and a CFD code is used to analyze the performance of the Neural Network's design. They are often coupled with other types of optimization routines (eg GA's).
