Hello,
I was wondering if any of you have come across a book that details the methods and approach of writing your own cfd software - preferably in fortran. Regards Jo |

As I know, there is no a such book on CFD programming step by step. However, you can try read a good CFD program and then to write your own.
1)Define the problem clearly. 2)Deside what algorithms you will used. 3)Code block by block. Trivial suggestion. Hopefully helpful. |

Try "Numerical Simulation in Fluid Dynamics: A Practical Introduction", by Michael Griebel, Thomas Dornseifer and Tilman Neunhoeffer. It is publised by SIAM (1998). The coding is in C++ and the closest to your needs.
Hope this helps |

Yes, I agree with you. But, for the beginner, it's very difficult to follow up.
Hi Jo, if you have experience(but, not expert) in CFD, like simulation of 2D laminar flow, 2D turbulent flow, why don't you read the book by PAOLO ORLANDI (Fluid Flow Phenomena, A numerical Toolkit). The author explained from the basics to the advanced topics, such as DNS(isotropic, homogeneous flow in box, flow in channel), LES( with dynamic subgrid model, similarity scale model, structure function model) You might have some idea from the book and his source code. After read through such materials, you can establish your own strategy(if you are not expert in CFD). J. Kim |
