Simple commercial CFD-code for ventilation?

I am looking for a simple CFD-code for ventilation assignments, but my only experience is Star-CD, which I think is not necessary for these simple assignments. I have heard a little about Fluent and CFX, which both are in the same class as Star-CD.

-Does anyone out there have good experience within this area, who can suggest a good com. code?

Thank you for taking your time for this mail!

Best regards Maria Gaardsted

please take a look at the Airpak web site

http://www.airpak.fluent.com

for information about our software that is focused on ventilation applications.

I am going to use the fluent software for my thesis. if you want tell me your adress and make me known.

I know at least three commercials codes which can handle HVAC simulation in a simpler way than a general purpose code :

airpack from fluent Flovent from flomerics floworks from Nika

It suggest you to contact your local resseler of this codes in order to have a demo. It's the better way to make up your own idea

Best regards

Maria,

I'm using CFX. On the following link you will find illustrations and papers related to HVAC with CFX:

To save me adding vendors names to this list you could try looking at a cfd-online archive.

Under 'this years archive' you will see a thread for 'cfd for hvac'. A direct link to this archive is shown below -

The thread started 29th Aug.

Hope this helps.

Hello Maria,

Computational Dynamics ltd. which is developer of STAR-CD also sells another CFD code 'STAR-LT'. This main features are geometry modeling capabilites based on 3D solid modeler and automatic mesh generation. This is cheaper than STAR-CD since it has no capabilies of high level phisical model ( combustion, two phase flow etc.), however the solver has same reliability because it is same as STAR-CD. I believe that it is suitable for your application.

Please see http://www.cd.co.uk/products/star-lt.htm Since the contents are old, please download the brochure from there.

Best regards,
