need suggestion of dissertation topic
I am studying in PhD program of mechanical engineering in Thailand. Now I complete everying except doing dissertation. I am searching for the topic of dissertation. I am interested in CFD, any field of CFD... Could anyone suggest me some topic that is promising? Thank you very much.

One of interesting simulation would be a nanojet. Personally, I think a nanojet will have a great effect on ink jet industry.
You can visit Jens Eggers homepage, and look at his paper about nanojet. http://www.theo-phys.uni-essen.de/tp/u/eggers/ |

How about the study of heat transfer involving convective flow within vessels, driven by heated arrays of tube banks, together with the effects of radiation and conduction through various media. Improvement in thermal efficiency of vessels would have large paybacks in safety and environmental effeciences.

Re: need suggestion of dissertation topic
There are many open problems in mechanical engineering that need CFD methods. Most of them, in my opinion, are related to inadequate modeling of physical phenomena. Turbulent combustion would be a very interesting field of research (there are theoretic and computational problems to be solved, so you can choose). Good luck

If you are interested in an interdisplinary topic you might consider chemical vapor deposition (CVD) area. You need to couple Navier-Stokes equations with the energy and species conservation equations. It is some what of a difficult area to publish in since people have been doing CVD modeling for some time and only more difficult problems are left to be published. But, if you like a challenge and like chemistry you can look into it. Good luck!
