I would bet a free license to my shareware that the flow over the square prism was done with MicroTunnel, judging by the colors, the unsteady solution, as well as the fact that you chose a square.

But why don't you download and install my program (only takes ten minutes), load the 'Square.shp' shape file and run the code yourself. Maybe you will see the 'familiarity'!? If you still claim that the simulation was done on Star-CD, then I will send you your free registration code (a $90 value).

We definitely use STAR-CD as our CFD software!!! and have done so for several years.

and then click on "CFD - Vad är det?" you can see another animation done with STAR-CD! The animations is best seen in Netscape. For some reason the animations are much slower in "Internet Explorer".

I don't understand you - do you claim that Star-CD can't provide an unsteady solution for the flow over the square prism? Well, I can send you my own results concerning flows about square, triangular and circular prisms, obtained with Star-CD...

As for the colours - my first guess from the color scheme was that it is Star-CD even before I've read it...

No, I did not say that, I just thought it was quite a coincidence. However, colors are very proprietary, after all there are 2^24 = 16.7 million of them (24-bit RGB), and perhaps you would agree that the palette used generally differs slightly from one CFD software to another. I have fine tuned my colors for years so that they would be easily distinguishable on screen AND on paper (for a variety of color printers).

I would certainly be interested in your results, if you could send me GIF compressed screen shots. Particularly the triangular prism (see www.microcfd.com/prism.htm ).

As far as the license goes, I did send Lennard his free PIN.

You are right, each CFD software has its own palette (that's how I've recognised Star-CD). The explanation for the choice of colors in Star-CD User's Guide is exactly the same as yours - "to be easily distinguishable on screen and on paper". They also have two other palettes - Alternative and RGB, but most users use standart one, though there is a possibility even to create your own.

Your results for the triangular prism are very interesting - my simulations were for incompressible flows only. I'll try to send you something - I haven't left much result files and all animations are huge AVIs.

As for the flow about square prism at Lennart's page - I guess it comes from one of the Star-CD validation test cases.
