I need some help on 3d lid-driven flow data for code validation. I suppose Ghia's data was 2d, is there any classicla results for 3d case? It would be best if someone can point me to a database on internet where I can download the data. Thanks a lot.

Hi Jin Li,
Check out this site: http://www.featflow.de/album/catalog...m_3d/data.html (For Re=3000,3D results are given) http://www.csc.fi/elmer/examples/cavity3d/index.html(Re=100,3d results are given) http://www.cs.sandia.gov/~machris/(for Re=10000) http://www.exa.com/powerflow/papersdir.html(in this site, you will see a paper in .ps format on "digital physics simulation of lid-driven cavity flow" by christopher teixeira) The classic paper of Patankar & Spalding, Int. J. Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol. 15, pp. 1787-1806(1972) I don't remeber whether he had reported 3D cases. His SIMPLE algorithm was for 3D formulation. Hope this helps. Regards gita |
