about boundary layer

When calculating flow in a duct whose diameter is less than 1mm, can the effect of boundary layer be omitted ? Can anybody provide testimony(some books or articles) about it?

No. I think you can't omitted it...because when the scale is getting smaller the Re becomes smaller as well, which means viscous effects are obvious.

If you are interested in Microflow, I can suggest some literature to you. In Microflow more effects will be considered such as V-slip, T-jump, absorption... and the scale may be nano-order...
