CFD ACE help

I am currently attempting to model the scavenging process for a small two stroke engine using CFD ACE. The model will need to be transient and the mesh will have to deform to simulate the motion of the piston.

The model will be made up of 3 blocks; the cylinder; the transfer ports; and the exhaust port. I hope to feed pressure data for the transfer port and exhaust port for each time step.

What is the best way to approach this problem? The tutorials dont seem to address mesh deformation and transient problems.

Hello Christopher,

We actually have a rough-draft of the grid generation portion of this problem in tutorial format, you can request it via the normal support channels (support@cfdrc.com)

You will need to make the grid system such that the piston can slide relative to the ports. This will require the use of the arbitrary interface feature allow flow communication between the cylinder grid and the port grids.

If you would like more detailed information please email to support@cfdrc.com and we'll take care of you.
