student needs help on simple cfd question

i am a phd student using cfd i need to model small spaces between two horizontal parallel plates, or just between one plate and a porous medium.

please can some tell me which is the best cfd model to use ( ie laminar, kepsilon, or eddy).

thank u in advance imran.

Re: student needs help on simple cfd question

your problem sounds close to the field of membrane seperation. i was working on ultrafiltration for my master degree three years ago. i used 2-d concentration diffusion with 1-d flow fluid field intrapolated from wall. it was in laminar flow regime for small Re number. the simulation was as good as an analytical report and very close to comparable experiment. there seems only one paper using complete cfd by the time i wrote my thesis. however there are many people involved in the field.
