1. What is your thesis topic?
2. Compressible or incompressible flow? 3. High or Low Reynolds number flow? 4. Internal or external flow? 5. Temperature or other scalar values are necessary? 6. What kind of computer can you use? 7. How long time can you afford on your thesis? 8. Are you familiar with coding work? 9. What about the previsous works done by your colleagues? Please specify your objectives and your situations, not only myself, but also other experts on the CFD field can give you information. Kim. |

You also want to focus on what is going to be your contribution to Research.
Re-writting a CFD code from scratch might be interesting to learn what it is, but not novel per se. Sometime a tinier application started/developped from existing techniques/codes might be more valuable from a science and (practical) engineering point of view. As my supervisor used to say: "No need to re-invent the wheel". It meiht also be more valuable for an employment/career viewpoint as it will have taught you to develop some method and/or code but also to lead something more along the lines of an engineering consultancy... This is of course an open advice and I do not prtend it to be the Truth! Good luck! |
