Default Spectral Vs FEM

Hi, If we are using Lagrangian interpolations in Spectral analysis then the difference of Spectral and FEM is just the order of interpolation. Classical FEM uses linear or quadratic while in spectral analysis people are using very high order interpolation functions. If my argumenet is correct then can we say that in present scenerio, it is just about edge-refinement Vs p-refinement. My second question is that what is the main (unbiased) advantage of spectral element over FEM.
