anyone do me a favor? Roache, PJ's discussion
hi all,
I am looking for Roache, Patrick J. 's book "Computational fluid dynamics" 1972. the reason is I am learning vorticity-steam function approach to solve 2D navier-stokes equations involving complex boundaries. I know his book had an excellent discussion on the various boundary treatment(such as, symmetry lines, uppper surfaces, inflow, outflow planes). But offhand I cant get to this book. So if anyone can do me a favor to tell me where I can find some alternatives(like his journal papers), or email me the paper if possible, I am very grateful to you. btw: both of copies of the books were checked out at my university while tons of CFD books remained untouched, is he so popular? |

hi
I have done some using vorticity-steam function approach to solve 2D navier-stokes equations. DNS (finite diffrence case). Here is a link of one my conference paper. You may find useful. http://lttc.com.ufrj.br/ichmt/CD/Tu3/16Paul-etal.htm Boundary condition that I used is maked in the flow configuration. Also about the Outflow BC!! Regards Manosh |
Re: anyone do me a favor? Roache, PJ's discussion
I know the 1972 book is out of print, but he did a re-write sometime around 1996. Whether this new book has reference to 2D navier-stokes equations DNS (finite diffrence case) or not I couldn't say for sure, but the new book should at least be easier to find. Steve.

Re: anyone do me a favor? Roache, PJ's discussion
thanks a lot! I have one particular question about boundary conditions. Suppose there is 2D flow through a tube with a contraction. Like follows:
walls ----------------------| | | inflow |---------------------- Ux parabolic Uy=0 outflow --------------------------------------------- symetric line(not wall) the initial values for streamfunction and vorticity I thought was: --------------------- |walls streamfunction=constant |vorticity=-2(st2-st1)/dn^2 | |-------------------------- what is vorticity at inflow??? ------------------------------------------------ streamfunction=0 vorticity symmetric with regard to ficitious points my question is 1.what is vorticity at inflow? I need this to start the time marching explicit method 2.what is the streamfunction at walls, it is a constant, but how to set this values in my case? thanks for your help. |
