Dear Friends,

In case of incompressible MHD fluid flows, how the divergence free condition on the magnetic field is enforced? References are welcome.

Valdemir.

The simplest way is is to use divergence-free basis functions. For 2D FEM using quadrilaterals, check out http://j.t.holdeman.home.att.net. Select "Research Interests" then download the pdf file for the updated version of the paper "II. Some Hermite Interpolation functions for Solenoidal and Irrotational Vector Fields." I have some higher order bases in 2D and a 3D basis, but these papers are not ready for publication yet.
