Hello,

I am trying to model a fan/blower in my code. Could anyone provide me some guidance on how to incorporate a fan curve in a FEM code? Many Thanks!

Your question is quite vague. Would you please clarify a bit further?

I was trying to create a model to simulate fan effects in flow fields for electronic cooling applications. Here the fan curve(pressure difference vs flow rate across the fan) is known.

Recently I have figured out this can be done by simply adding the pressure drop (given in the fan curve) into N-S equations as a force term.

What's your opinion? Thanks!

Try to locate the PhD thesis of Dr M van Staden. He did a PhD specifically on this topic.

You can email him at: Martin.vanstaden@pbmr.co.za

His PhD is about implementing fan curves for axial fans into a CFD code using momentum source terms. Great reading!
