I am making a simulation about cyclone used to separate particles.I find what I know is too little for this goal.I am a undergraduate(senior),and the gap between fluid mechanical for engineering I have learned and tubbulence modeling is wide. Could you recommend some books or articles about turbulence modeling and numerical simulation.
I have learned fluid mechanical, thermaldynamics, heat transfer, all of those are for engineering. |

An introduction is http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books which is a general CFD textbook with a good introductory chapter on turbulence.
Otherwise a good general turbulence book for CFd is that by Wilcox (although it shows some obvious bias in favour of k-w models), http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...glance&s=books |

What you are asking in a summary intro which would be a lot more suitable to gain from a textbook such as the Versteeg & Malalasekera which should be printed in Singapore too by Longman. Otherwise you may have to read quite a few papers which will be less didactic. I seem to remember an overview of turbulence in J Hydr. Eng., ASCE, from the 1982 (?) for the RANS approach ie zero, one-, two equation modesl as well as the LRR Reynolds Stress Model. I am sure there are other reviews in some journals but will they be suitable to learn I don't know.

A nice and free overview of basic CFD "best-practise" is the MARNET CFD Best Practise Guidelines. You can find a link to these in the Resources / Misc / CFD Introductions section here at CFD Online.
