PLEASE HELP!! regarding discrete phase modelling and two-phase flow
 

hey everyone,

I'm currently modeling a basic rotating couette flow(stationary outer cylinder and rotatin inner cylinder) and need help as i'm introducing an inlet to this flow.with air initially in the gap of the two rotating cylinders, i want to introduce a lubrication oil into the gap via an inlet. tried it using a basic k-epsilon model but all i got was the image(attached) which in my case had to use water as fluid for the gap and the inlet, which shows mixture between the fluid and not break up of the lubrication oil due to the rotating cylinder. HOw can i investigete the break up of the oil, and what turbulence model do i have to use..?from what i've read its somethin to do with the langrangian model with discrete phase modeling but as for now it seems like rocket science to me..anyone who knows this pleaseee help....its for my project which is due in a month!!!thx soooo much

Search the net for MFIX, it is an Open Source code in Fortran 90 dedicated to multiphase flows.

hey thanks for the reply, but i'm very sure its not bout writing my own codes.
ALL i need is to set a flow rate through the inlet at the top, set the rotational speed for the inner cylinder, and observe the jet break up due to the windage effect created by the rotating inner cylinder.It has something to do with discrete phase modeling, setting an injection or just being able to set different zones. The only problem i have now is that the fluid coming from the inlet is mixing with the fluid which is already there. How can i set that at t=0 everything inside is empty(just filled with air)..after that set a rotational speed and let water flow through the inlet to see the break up. (it is definitely somewhere along "rotating reference frames, miltiple phase flows, etc" SOMEONE pls pls pls help..i'd be so grateful to you!

Regarding the rotating reference frame,: I dont think there is one here. You just have a moving wall.
