Hi,

I found the Numerical Grid Generation : Foundations and Applications by Joe F. Thompson, Z. U. A. Warsi and C. W. Mastin online at http://www.erc.msstate.edu/publications/gridbook/.

The problem is when I try to print it to a PS copy (so that I can print chapter by chapter on my PC), I can not open the downloaded files (with .ps.gz names), giving me the error of "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged".

Does anyone know how to save and print this online book?

Thanks very much,

Christine

Christine,

I have just tried to follow this procedure (I had picked Chap. 2 arbitrarily) on a PC running Win2k. After saving the file chapt02.ps.gz, double-click and WinZip (v8.1) opened it. Another double-click on the contained file (chapt02.ps) and it opened with GhostScript (Gsview32.exe v4.0 by Ghostgum). There was no problem encountered in the whole process. Maybe you should use another software or version to uncompress the gz compression.

I hope this helps, Rami

hi Christine

I have found that some browser/webserver combinations try to be too clever and they automatically unpack the .gz archive when you save it. Try renaming one of the files from .ps.gz to just .ps and see if you can read it then.

(the error message occurs because the zip program does not recognize plain .ps format)

Thanks, mystic_cfd and Rami. It turned out that my web browser IS too clever and it did unpack the .gz file when I save it. After I changed the file names from .ps.gz to .ps (just as mystic_cfd said), I could read and print them now.

Thanks again,

Christine
