A bunch of people have read "lost in the sea of CFD," but at the instant I am writing this, a reply has yet to be posted. I find myself trying to understand why this is the case. Chances are I don't make any sense. It could be that what I'm asking for is impossible, or it could be that I could buy the software that I need at the dollar store. So any response would be appreciated, even if it's, "good luck trying to learn cfd" or "You don't need a computer to fingerpaint" or even "You talk too much." Seriously, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks again, Greg

Greg,

Perhaps the reason no one has replied to your "lost in the sea of CFD" post, is that you are looking for pretty advanced capabilities in a CFD package. I myself am unfamiliar with the advanced physics capabilities of commercially available CFD packages. Since you already have some leads, you may search the websites of those companies for information about the capabilities of interest to you. Additionally, you may find links on this website (cfd-online.com) to all the major commercial CFD software companies. Since the first problem you describe occurs frequently in the chemical process industry, you may also check the ASPEN software package (www.aspentech.com). Perhaps one way of investigating those packages is to email the customer support, describing the problem you have in mind, and asking what kind of relevant capabilities their software has.

I think you would be better off talking to majot vendor CPI teams to find out. I believe CFX is pretty much advanced in this area of eulerian multiphase, but why don't you speak to them?

I'm beginning to talk to the companies themselves, but it takes a little while to iron out all the formalities. while I am waiting, I thought it couldn't hurt to get some user's advice. Especially because, for the most part, people here aren't trying to sell me expensive software. They are the people with experience on the software and I want as much inside advice before I drop several grand.

thanks, and I'd still love to hear anyone's advice. Greg
