Simulation of heat transfer in work piece

Hi every body
I am PhD student; I want to simulate heat transfer through the work piece ( rod bar)fitted on turning machine ; the rod is heated with laser beam and the rod rotates the tool cuts out rod metal. How can simulate this using fluent code; what is model type I can use and how I can apply boundary condition at rod surface?

Yours sincerely

I am just curious to see how Fluent will behave in this situation. Theoretically Fluent can solve this heat conduction problem by deactivating the momentum and continuity equations and leaving active the energy equation, even better, the energy equation has the advection terms which allow you to include the effect of the rotational speed of the rod on the radial heat gradient. (check Vedat Arpaci Conduction Heat Transfer, page 46 equation 2-96 for the complete form of the equation of conduction for a homogeneous isotropic solid moving with velocity V (vector).
Applying the boundary conditions is straight forward, heat flux at the heated end, radiation and natural convection at the rotating surface, actually it depends on what you are looking for, radiation is much more than natural convection, so whether you can neglect or include natural convection that will depend on the rotational speed of the rod.
Good Luck
