CHT in gas turbine, solid domain
Hi everyone,
Doing some conjugate heat transfer simulation for a gas turbine blade, do you need prism layers in the solid domain to capture the convection due to the fluid? how fine should be the grid inside of the solid domain near the wall? Thank you. |
You need prism layers when there is an interface between solid and fluid. This is to capture the effect of viscosity slowing down the fluid velocity to zero (boundary layer) as it approaches the solid surface.
Inside the solid region you do not need prism layer. The mesh there should be enough to capture the temperature gradient from one surface to the other. |
