near wall LES

hi all,

I am working on near wall LES. I am simulating a high Reynolds number (10e6-10e7) flow over a sphere. The solver I am using works only with tetrahedral cells. So we are not able to resolve the boundary layer, hence cannot calculate the wall shear stress. I am trying to somehow model this wall shear stress using the instantaneous logarithmic law of the wall on the sphere, in the region 30<y+<5000.

But as logarithmic law is not valid in separated regions and also on curved surfaces, can I at all expect this thing to work?

Regards, Shailesh

Hi there,

check out the work of Ugo Piomelli on wall-layer models for large eddy simulation.

Here is the link to the publications of professor Piomelli:

Hope this helps,

Sincerely,
