Pseudoschlieren image computation
Hi all,
i'm looking for recipes to generate pseudoschlieren images from numerical flow data. Is it such the absolute density gradient, what i have to compute? Thanks in advance. Stefan

Basically, compute the norm of 2D density gradient for 1 computational plane xy : S=sqrt((drho/dx)^2+(drho/dy)^2) and for instance draw contours with an exponential level distribution for S. See R. Samtaney, "Visualization, extraction and quantification of discontinuities in compressible flows", technical report NAS99002", NASA, March 1999, for some details (freely downloadable, but I don't remember the electronic address.
