This post is a follow up to a previous one, http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/mai...mme-linux.html
I just wanted to show some results. Readers may ask why I look excited about Elmer, well a straight answer is simple, I have not found yet an open source, free code with such a professional look and industrial quality as this one. Take a look at the attachments, all produced by Elmer.
The classical case of a flow around a cylinder (The details are given in the tutorials manual, so there is no need to repeat them here, except one, the inlet velocity profile is a fully developed parabolic and not the classical uniform constant velocity one, yes, introducing functions in elmer is straight forward).
A word of caution, the programme is not a perfect one, but I guess the developers will be happy to hear from a community of users.

I gave it up after finding out it had no turbulence treatment and wasting some months ... Hopefully this was recently fixed.

Do you really believe what you are saying? A CFD solver without a standard k-epsilon model!!!

Hello Ahmed,

My experience with Elmer was about 3 years ago. At that time there was only a seldom used k-e model, with improper account in the energy equation (as stated by Peter Raback, one of the Elmer team). It seems there is some advance in the turbulence treatment in Elmer since then.
