Running FDS

Hi everyone,

I'm a french student in fire safety engineering and i need to use FDS for my dissertation: numerical study of smoke movement in an aircraft cabin.
I tried to running it , after reading the manual, but i still don't know how to run it. I'm not very good in programming... so my problem is at the very beginning of the use of FDS.
I don't know how to do that (from page 9 of the user guide):

"MSWindows
Open up a Command Prompt window (click Start, then Run, then type “cmd”), and change directories (“cd”)
to where the input file for the case is located, then run the code by typing at the command prompt
fds5 job_name.fds "

Is there somedy who can help me?
Thank you!

lets say that your file is located somewhere on your computer like: C:\Firesimulation\aircab1\firstrun

then you hit the "start" button in windows, lower left corner, and press the run button. then the command window pups up. There you have to locate the folder where your file are.

When this is done you write:
fds5 jobname.fds

then it runs.

I think you should buy a copy of pyrosim. This program allows you to start a simulation whitout all the writing in the command window, and it is very fast to build a model. Try to take a look at
