Default CFdesign vs. CosmosFloWorks
Posts: n/a
I would like to purchase a CFD software package that can be used with SolidWorks. I have looked into CFdesign and CosmosFloWorks. I am somewhat concerned about FlowWorks' use of structured cubic meshes, but I like the fact that it is fully embedded with SolidWorks. Does anyone have any insights, comparisons, or recommendations regarding these two codes?

i think it will depend what kind of analyses you need. external or internal? multiphysics? etc.

btw don't forget to check "CFD-CADalyzer" from CFDRC. it seems better tool to me. there is also starworks from starcd but i dont have any experience with it unlike other 3.

While CAD integration is somewhat important, I'd suggest you base your CFD package decision solely on the accuracy of the CFD results. Have them (software companies) benchmark your problem for you.

I am somewhat biased because I work for a company that sells a CFD software package. But, I would have to agree that CAD integration is important, but CFD is a vcery sophisticated type of analysis and getting the correct answer is much more important than CAD integration. I realize that you have to wiegh the option of inexperienced users coming up to speed, but you can really get ridiculous answers if you do not know what you are doing or cannot depend on the code to be able to handle sophisticated problems.

As I don't want to come here just to advertise, feel free to email me direct if you care haev specific questions.
