which software CFD is suitable with architects & urbanists?

Hi every body,

I am so glad to join this special forum. In fact, I am an architect who is interested by dynamic design in Architecture, Urbanism and Landscape. :D

I hope finding my quest here.... or even some advises from every one using CDF. :)

From your experience can someone advise me :
1. which software CFD is better & adaptable to work with AutoCAD specially to achieve Wind and temperature simulation in urban space?

2. Is there any software CFD able to distinguish between two open spaces for example: One is Grass open land, other is Asphalt parking. Undoubtedly, the temperature in this two cases is not the same. Or can be distinguish between two objects : Tree - Kiosk ??

Some guys said Star-CCM+, what do you think?:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Greeting

Hi.

The newer versions of ansys CFX has more capability but using this software is not easy especially for persons which has not complete knowledge about using it.

I suggest you using gambit and fluent.

1.I don't understand what do you mean about working with Autocad if you want to export your geometry both Ansys CFX and Gambit (as a pre processor) accept files in autocad format.

2. for your simulations you can use equal sand grain roughness for your case to simulate the different surfaces and to obtain flow field.for temperature field you can use different boundary conditions.

thank you

Thanks Artemiss1984,

Autocad software export models via others softwares in 3DS. DXF... so I mean, which file can Ansys import it?

Its clear these kind of software are easy, but I think that every thing new is difficult to learn. So I will do my best :).

In fact, Which I am trying to elaborate is how to design a building in urban zone avoiding the turbine tunnel effects. So an architecture adopted with wind & pressure conditions.
With the same point of view, I am trying to design an urban area with minimum negative wind effects in pedestrian area.
Of course the isolation conditions is very important also but i have had worked on it. So i am trying to add other climatic condition as restrict. (Climatic Optimal Design) :D hope so

Finally, you think that these software are capable to distinct among materials of space. ex; Green roof & Brick or wooden one???
