Hi guys

im new here..i have one question. How to create contact part and mesh between solid and fluid in Ansys? Do i have to create separate part between solid and fluid and make it as contact or just combine it as one layer?

my problem is actually simple..i am interested to see pressure or displacement variation after transient impact subjected on the solid surface..let say the air-concrete contact surface.
Currently i am modelling it in ICEM CFD and i am planning to analyse it in FLUENT..anybody has suggestion or idea? Really appreaciate your help.

Thanks in advance

The problem could be faced using RBF Morph. We are currently exploring the FSI method using modal approach. It is an effective way to handle it. The limit is the linear hypothesis for the structural part (otherwise modal approach is not applicable). It can be stressed a little bit (i.e. for displacement quite large), however material non linearities and large deformations cannot be covered.

If you need a trial version please contact info@rbf-morph.com.

Help, what is the equation of oscillation to simulate the movement of water in a cistern.
thanks in advance.

In NASTRAN, are you using SOL 600? I have seen OpenFSI (by NASTRAN) that is using SOL 600 or 700?

Thank you for your response

For your information, this group has built a two-way FSI implementation between Matlab and ANSYS Fluent: Fluent-udf.com. Maybe you should contact them?

The example they give is a thin membrane, similar to yours.
