Standard K-Epsilon TO Reynolds Stress calculation (for convergence)

Hello everyone,

I'm having problems to make the reynolds stress turbulence model converge (The scaled residuals stay between 10-2 and 10-3. So I thought about starting the calculation with a standard k-epsilon and then switch it to Reynolds stress when converged enough.

I started a calculation with the standard k-epsilon model, the residuals are between 10-6 and 10-7 and are still decreasing , should I wait till they become constant before switching to Reynolds stress, or can I switch it right now even if the residuals can still go smaller ?

Thank you for your help

Hi

  1. Output the parameters which are important to your simulation and monitor them. For ex: Lift for an airfoil.
  2. If they are not changing any more or falling in the required tolerance limit then your simulation is ok and you can proceed with RSM model.
