Good evening guy!!

This is the my first post here, and I'm asking for advice just before wasting lot of time trying to solve this on my own, but... I have no idea. They are likely very easy questions, but I'm a begginer...

1- I've carried out a simulation of an axisymmetrical model. The mesh I built was a 2D axisymmetrical mesh (2D mesh in GAMBIT + axisymetrical condition in FLUENT). The question is, after the simulation reached a stable condition, I wanted to represent some 3D figures about the results. Questions: is it possible in fluent?? How could I do it?? Thanks in advance.

2- In another simulation, I got some pictures of the vortex generated but I would like to have a length reference, kind of lenght scale like the one you can find in all the maps to have an idea of the real length of what is represented. Like 5mm are this length, and you can compare this length with the drawing. Questions: Is it posible?? How to do that?? Again thanks in advance.

Yeah, those are all my problems, if someone could help me with them it would be really appreciated!! So sorry if this is not the correct place to post this questions....

Thanks, romantico.

Hi Romantico,

The questions you are asking seems to relate to Fluent. You may want to repeat your post in the Fluent forum (which you may already have done).

1. In short, if your analysis is 2D your results are 2D. You can give an impression of 3D by displaying multiple rotation of your 2D results - but again it is only giving an impression.

2. I am sure it may be possible, but it will depend on the software used. Usually, the overall dimensions of the analysis can be displayed through boundix box or the like. Someone using Fluent may be able to help.

Good luck.

Hi Julien!!

Wow, so impressive how quick you answered!! Many thanks, and I'm so sorry to have posted it in the wrong place, I'm gonna posted it in the correct one right now!!

I didn't understand what you meant with "multiple rotation", but now at least I have other key words to try to look for sth on the internet. And, maybe someone in the Fluent forum can give me more details about these tasks.

Many many thanks!! I has been a very good first experience here in the forum (it was the wrong one, though)

Hi Romantico,

I just wanted to clarify on my mention of "Multiple rotation". I am trying to explain that some post-processing softwares let you create multiple rotations of the 2D axisymetric plane with the results. This gives an impression of 3D results - but the results are still 2D.

Sincerely,
Julien

Ey Julien!!

Once again, many thanks for your clarification!! I've been out of the city for a while so I couldn't answer before... I'm gonna check if I can find sth to fix this prob, and I'll let you know if I'm successful or not!!

Thank you!!
