airfoil trailing edge modelling in gambit

hi
i am modelling an airfoil in gambit to analyse shock occurance over airfoil.
is it important if the trailing edge is closed or not
see this http://www.herbcroft.com/untitled.jpg
please tell me what is the differences between the closed T.E and non closed T.E
i encounter a problem when i am trying to make a closed trailing edge airfoil in gambit when i am making the faces...could you plz tell me where is the problem?

In Gambit create two separate surfaces one for the part of your domain that contains the airfoil and one for the airfoil, then extract the airfoil face from the big face, this will work for your closed airfoil.

I think using an open TE (if the experimental data has mentioned the wing section was opened at TE - this is the case for a large part of NACA airfoils for e.g.) will give you more accurate results. However in CFD one usually close the TE to avoid meshing problems and to obtain a faster solution.

Check Cl, Cd and Cm for a NACA airfoil with closed and open TE for small angles of attack and then check these against experimental data from Abbott (you will see the difference).

you mean if i use open T.E , i will obtain more accurate results...
could u plz tell me why??
i want to know the philosophy behind this ?
does a open TE lead to more accurate result for flow after T.E like wakes.
