VOF -Volume of Fluid
Hi. I recently finished my honours year thesis. The project was a study of flow over a regular series of roughness elements in a shallow open-channel and I used the "fixed lid" method to achieve a suitably accurate solution. However, having less time restraints now, I would like to investigate the use of the "Volume of Fluid" method to more precisely model the characteristics of the free surface.
I have already started investigating the method and feel that it would be very effective for my purpose but as it seems to be a very tricky system, I was hoping that you may be able to supply me with some useful hints and tips toward the creation of a nice solution. Thus far I have studied VOF in relation to the k-epsilon model and have used the ADAPT-REGION function to specify (mark) the initial depth of fluid in relation to the amount of air within the channel. I am still unsure whether this is giving me the results I require and know that any information that you could give me would be of great help. If you require any further details on the project I would be only too happy to hear from you. I eagerly await your response. Thank you. Nial |
