reynolds number averaging??
im modelling fluid flow over an airfoil using k-epsilon model. my professor says i shouldnt arbitrarily choose any velocity at the inlet, but start from low velocity and "iterate". he wants me to do this:
1. start from low velocity at the inlet,
2. get reynolds number distribution at various y stations
3. ensure that the avg reynolds number is somewhat close to the reynolds number calculated from the inlet velocity.
4. repeat this for progressively higher velocities
my question: why should I do this? wat purpose does it serve? is it because i'm using k-e model and it makes use of Re avgd N-S eqns??
i dont understand his explanation
