Hi all,
I am in the process of literature survey for one of my projects. While studying the published literature, many times I have come across words like "wheel housing wake", "car base wake". Can some one please tell me what is "wake"? Many Thanks, Arun |

easily understood, wake simply refers to velocity deficit behind a moving body (or read - flow moving towards a static body - depends on frame of reference)..
the velocity profile behind the body or plotting U/Uo (Uo being free stream velocity - or simply velocity at some far distance), always has a profile U/Uo vs vertical axis y (or the axis transverse to incoming flow direction) will provide you with the wake related deficit. its one of the standard cases studied to predict efficiency of turbulent flow modeling (since recirculation / flow reversals are involved) my 2c ! /CFDtoy
