Hi!

I'm working at the re-entry problems now, using simple engineering formulas to estimate heat fluxes. I would like to account for radiation from the shock wave. So I wonder, can we treat shock wave as radiative surface, assuming that heat flux from it is

q=emissivity*Boltzman_constant*T^4 ?

And if yes, then what is the estimation for emissivity of hot ionized gas?

Hi
which simple engineering formulas used to estimate heat fluxesin reentry capsule? did you used Detra, Kump & Riddel formula?
