Try approximating by a laminar flat plate flow, to which the theoretical solution is available (Blasius profile).
You should have the Reynolds number for your simulation, and you should have about 10 to 40 points inside the boundary layer (eta = 6 from Blasius solution), depending on your convective flux computation scheme. If it's 2nd-order upwind, go with about 15. If it's centred with artificial dissipation, go with about 40. By the Blasius' eta definition with your Reynolds number, to give you the laminar boundary layer thickness over the flat plate, and the number of points inside the boundary layer, you get the point distribution along your BL. |
