Baisc CFD Discussion

I am new to the Field of CFD and doesnt kno much about this.But i have my M.Tech research work on CFD and so i am very much interested to know about this subject and acquire considerable knowledge about this.So all members kindly post in this thread as to which books on introductory level i should read,which software should i use for CFD related heat transfer problems.Thanking all you friends in advance.- sayan

Especially i am interested in free convection inside a closed conduit placed vertically and heated at one specific point on it's wall.I want to get an idea as to what should be the fluid flow dynamics inside the conduit around that externally heated area/point.Kindle name a software,book,research papers and any other relevant information. thanking you my friends.- sayan

Hi Sayan,
Please get yourself a nice introductory book related to CFD.
(See books section in this forum).
It's relatively easy to start using a commercial tool without knowing the basis, but that will most probably result in a failure. And never under estimate the first principals and 1D simulations, one should always compare his/her CFD results with them.
If you have access to commercial CFD codes Fluent/CFX will be good.
Otherwise you can try open source package OpenFOAM.
