hi all, i'm new in this ANSYS software especially in meshing and also fluent...for your info, i am using ANSYS version 13.0
i want to ask, how to make this 2D mesh..
the picture i've attach...
thanks in advance

Hi,
Do you want to ask what is the step by step process of creating such a mesh.
I don't think anyone will be willing to help you with that.
You can download the ANSYS meshing tutorials from their website which show how to create different kind of mesh.
The type of mesh that you may want to may will also depend on the type of simulation you are going to do.

actually i've search this type of mesh tutorial...then there are no tutorial that relate with this simulation....
my simulation is about mortar bomb simulation in 2-Dimension...where the outer mesh is apply in the surround like NACA 0012 airfoil tutorial in FLUENT ANSYS 13.0..
dear cfd_newbie,can you help me to find it... at least the key word...
thanks for reply my thread...

Hi,
Now that I think of it I really don't recall creating such grids in 2D.
What you can do is have a little bit of extrusion in the 3rd dimension.
just enough to create a 1 cell thick mesh. Then you can create a surface grid. You can then put on a inflation layer to create the boundary layer.
(there are many options available and is described in tutorials too for the inflation layer). After that you can just create remaining mesh using automatic meshing. My personal suggestion have around 50 layers of cell in boundary layer and first cell thickness for Y+<1 can be calculated from http://geolab.larc.nasa.gov/APPS/YPlus/
