Default Speed of cfd-online.com after server move

We have received a few reports from users that the speed of the cfd-online.com site has been very slow since the server was moved to a new datacenter on Jan 15. The new datacenter should be an improvement in speed for most people. It is for me in Sweden at least. Hence, the speed problem affects a minority (not that Swedes are a majority, but anyway ;-)

If you have experienced a significantly slower connection to cfd-online.com in the last couple of week please send an email to jola@cfd-online.com

In the email please provide your IP number. If you don't know it you can check it on http://www.myipnumber.com

Also if you could do a traceroute to 69.39.3.162 (the cfd-online.com server) and include the output in the email that would be very valuable in helping us to track down the problem.

To do a traceroute on a Windows machine do "Start->Run" type cmd and then at the prompt type "tracert 69.39.3.162". Then you can right-click in the command window to mark and then copy the output into your email.

To do a traceroute on a Unix/Linux machine just type "/usr/sbin/traceroute 69.39.3.162" at the command prompt.

In addition, please also do a traceroute to "69.39.5.82" (our ISP's network gateway) and "69.39.3.156" (our DNS server).

The output from these traceroutes will be invaluable help for us to identify where the problem is.

Many thanks in advance for you help in resolving this issue.

Thanks to everyone who emailed me about this. I now hope that we have solved the speed issues. It was a server-related problem with reverse DNS lookups which caused time-outs and delays to establish a connection for some users. We have hopefully fixed it now, at least some users have reported back tremendous improvements.

If someone is still experiencing unusually slow connections to www.cfd-online.com then please email me and we'll take a second look at it.
