【Adjoint method】Smoothing algorithm for sensitivities

I'm looking for smoothing algorithms or filtering techniques suitable
for smoothing sensitivities(gradients of the cost function wrt. the design
variables) obtained by the adjoint method. In my calculations, gradients
are calculated at each of the surface nodes and they are used to perform
a shape change in favor of a reduction of the cost function.
I would be grateful if someone could tell me what methods are available for this purpose.
