heat release calculation
Hello everybody,
I need to model a fire that has a heat release of 100 kW and i don't know how to calculate the velocity that must be set at the inlet to coresspond to a heat release of 100 kw. Can you help me with this? Thnak you, Caty |
Re: heat release calculation
I hope i don't confuse what you mean, but follow following steps and see if it is the thing what you ask. you have a source with 100KW.let us use newton's law of cooling 1- Q=m*cp*DeltaT. I assume you have fluid domain since you ask a velocity and this forum is CFD forum. :) am i right? and i assume you know the Cp of your fluid.
2- take your deltaT to be flame temperature of the fire. 1300~1500 °K is flame temperature of the CO and H2. 3. now rest is one equation with one unknown. mass flow rate (kg/s), known inlet size and density from ideal gas let you to calculate velocity?. if it is not the thing that you asked, then please clearify your question. |
