Streamline plotting

Dear Community,

I am after a bit of general advice regarding plotting streamlines. There are two potential methods at my disposal:

1) Integrate the velocity field in my code with a suitable technique and then plot the resulting streamfuncion;
2) Give my velocity field to Tecplot and ask it do the additional work with its streamtrace feature.

I was wondering if you have any opinions as to which, if any, is favourable (my current interests are related to cavity flows with different aspect ratios)? If there is little or no difference then I would prefer to use Tecplot (simply due to the fact that I won't have to do worry about additional multigrid solvers or relaxation methods in my finite difference code - the easier, the better, right?), but naturally I worry about the accuracy of build-in post-processing features (especially as I don't know what is hidden under the bonnet).

Any suggestions, advice, or opinions will be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Archer
