Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
Hellow everyone.
I'm interested in the ALE method, but it's hard to find some references. Please let me know where can I find one. Thanks. |
Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
Los Alamos reports are probably the best source. I would suggest contacting their library and looking for reports by authors such as A.A.Amsden and C.W.Hirt.

Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
Better yet, try the T-3 group web site at Los Alamos. The T stands for "Theory" and the 3 is the fluids group. They're at:

Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
Hi,
The original paper of the ALE method is: Hirt, CW; Amsden, AA; Cook,JL;"An arbitrary Lagrangean-Eulerean computing method for all flow speeds", J.Comput.Phys., no14, pp 227-253, 1974. After that there are some finite element work on fluid structure interactions, such as: Belishko, T; Flanagan, DP; "Finite element method with user-controled meshes for fluid structure interaction", Comput. Methods Applied Mech. Eng., no.33, pp 669-688, 1982. Donea et al."An arbitrary lagrangean-eulerian finite element method for transient dynamic fluid stucture interactions", Comput. Methods Applied Mech. Eng., no.33, pp 689-723, 1982. And a finite volume method to solve moving boundaries Abdullah,Z; saculdean, M; " Free-surface flow during the filling of a cylinder", Int. Journal for Num. Methods in Fluids, vol. 11, pp 151-168, 1990. I hope those are of some help. Cheers Neyval |
Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
Thank very much! I found several interesting references. Thanks again.

Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
A great reference: J.R.Hughes, W.K.Liu, T.K.Zimmermann - Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering 29 (1981) 329-349
I am using it right now!!! Astrid |
Re: Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method?
"Computational and Experimental Study of Liquid Sheet Emanating from Simplex Fuel Nozzle." AIAA Journal, Vol.36, No.2, February 1998
I would recommend you to read this journal. I think it should give you some ideas about the application of arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian numerical method in CFD. You can also get some references of the places to look for ALE methods. Good luck!!! |
