Engine manifold flow
Good day all
I'm a 4th year engineering student tasked with using CFD to analyze the effects of pressure pulses, scavenging, Helmholtz resonance and so on in the exhaust and inlet manifolds of a 4 stroke IC engine. I do not have a large amount of CFD experience and I was hoping some one could point me in the right direction with concerns to the following, Firstly 1-d vs 2-d vs 3-d, and secondly should one model the entire cylinder with valves including the combustion or would it be sufficient to use a user defined source with varying pressure/mass flow rate's at the inlet or exit of the manifolds?
