Hi,

It will be appreciated if someone here can shed some light on injection molding modeling.

Injection molding flow is a complex process, the viscosity of the polymer is a function of temperature. Plus, there is free surface involved. It must be very time consuming to solve the problem using the full NS equations.

There are commercail codes that are capable of mold flow simulation and the solving time seemed pretty short. So, I do think that some approximations were implemented for mold flow simulation. Can someone here explain how mold flow is modeled? Thanks!

Pei
