Question about SIMPLE

Hi all

I am trying to solve the incompressible N-S equations using the SIMPLE method (Patankar) with generalized coordinates. I am having some problems with the D term (pressure correction formula) because it doesn't converge. I am using finite difference.

I don't know if the problem is that in order to get the pressure correction formula I transformed the Continuity Eq. to generalized coordinates, because of this to approximate the Pij term I use all (8) the adjacent nodes (is that correct??). Even when I change the under-relaxation factor the iterative process doesn't converge.

Thanks in advance

Ruben

Re: Question about SIMPLE

Hi! I had a similar problem and all the equations were converging, except the pressure correction equation. The problem that I had was in the boundary conditions.I recommend you check them again and make them with many details,so that you specify the pressure correction near the inlet and outlet and also near the wall (for example, you must specify values at the following points,if the point i,j,k is a solid wall:i,j,k+1 or i,j,k-1 or i,j+1,k etc...) Good luck!

Hi!

Thanks for the advice, I checked my BC´s and I get convergence, but in the results the pressure field are zeros less at the inlet although the field velocities seems to be right.

Thanks in advance
