Internal Field Corresponding to a Patch

I am trying to create a custom boundary.
dE/dx = k* [exp ((E-Ec)/a)- exp ((E-Ea)/b) ] where k,Ea,Ec,a and b are constant and I have to solve for E. For that 1. I want to obtain scalar array of distance between the cell center and cell face of the Patch. 2. obtain value of internal field for a particular patch. 3. How to create a temporary scalar field of size patch. I am attaching a small PPT containing algorithm and boundary condition. Any kind of help would be appreciated.
