Premixed flame.

Hello,

I am looking for information on the structure of instantaneous premixed flames. Primarily I am interested in looking at the fact that these flames are usually assumed to be very thin and therefore you have a burnt and unburnt side. However, it seems perfectly plausible that that some of the 'flame fingers' can become detached from the main body of the flame and then burn whislt surrounded by burnt gases. Can anyone point me to literature/books which may give some idea of these concepts?

Regards.

Hi Interested,

You could try Forman Williams book on Combustion. Possibly it may help. But I am not really sure.

Ganesh

Thank you Ganesh. I am more interested in a theoretical look at how these 'flame fingers' might become detached and also some experimental work which captures a flame instantaneously.
