Solid to Fluid Heat Transfer Modelling Problem
 

Hello

I am attempting to model, a solid Heat exchanger with one side set to a constant temperature and water flowing through extracting the heat energy and cooling the interior of the heat exchanger down in ANSYS FLUENT.

I have a running model, however there is no heat transfer occuring between the solid and fluid. They are in contact, and there is a quite consideerable temperature gradient.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution to my problem?

how did you set up the volumes? you have to make sure the mesh is the same at the place where the solid and fluid meet.

I created the solid first, froze it, and then created the fluid by doing a boolean subtraction. They are both set to their respective states in Design modeller, (Solid/fluid)

Is there any way of checking if the nodes meet up? and is there a particular method I am supposed to use?

I am assuming you have something like a tube-in-tube looking thing. The way I would mesh that is by picking the right edge of the outer tube and putting equal spaced nodes on that, and then the same thing for the edge of the inner tube. I would do the same for the opposite side. Then, I would mesh the right hand face (tube) and then the face of the inner tube (fluid section). Then, cooper mesh that thru the whole thing.
