if you will apply FVM in your research, i recommend you to read a book.
"computational fluid dynamics: principles and application", J. Blazek

it is very suitable for novice.

I would suggest reading one of the many great books on CFD. Then, if you are able, download and install OpenFOAM and go through the tutorials. Commercial solvers are more user friendly, but FOAM is free. If you make it through the tutorials, CFD is probably viable for you.

If you don't want to go the OpenFOAM route, CFdesign (now Autodesk Simulation CFD) is very easy for beginners (not terribly powerful though).

Sandeep,

It works best from Ubuntu (linux). You can add the openfoam repository to ubuntu, and then install it with a simple apt-get command. See: http://www.openfoam.com/download/ubuntu.php

Like I said, OpenFOAM is quite difficult to install and use, but you will be more aware of what the commercial packages do once you have used OpenFOAM.

I hope this helps.
