i've a doubt regarding analysis of wind turbine blades in fluent, do we need to model the blade with the twist or it should be straight to get same AOA over the whole span, which one is correct, i'm using periodic boundaries on either side ,inlet, outlet and a wall on top, do we need to give rotating reference. thanx in advance sharukdear@gmail.com

Just think about it: Assuming uniform wind velocity, the incoming axial velocity component is independent of the radius. However, the circumferential component of the relative velocity varies linearly in span direction, because of rotation.

There is no way to get the same AOA over the whole span on a straight blade.

What do you mean by 'top' ??

i'm using wall condition insted of farfield, is it correct, i was not getting through the periodic boundary condition so i've meshed for full model, how can i get the rotational velocity of the rotor in fluent, the blade section at tip will be a bluff body initially, so, how much rps i've to give, is it relative or absolute rotating frame, thank u

Hi,
Hi, everyone:

Can I use the Turbogrid to mesh the flow field of a wind turbine blade?

I know the Turbogrid and ICEM can mesh an internal flow turbomachine easily such as gas turbine and water turbine. But I'm not sure whether it can mesh an external flow rotor like wind turbine. Does anyone has some experience and give me some advice?

Thank you!
